Gravity Defyer began with a single question: can a shoe protect feet the way an aircraft landing gear protects a jet? Founded by inventor and mechanical engineer Alexander Elnekaveh to help his nephew walk without pain, Gravity Defyer blends engineering, podiatry and materials science to create clinically minded comfort footwear.

Our story

When Alexander's 14-year-old nephew faced chronic heel pain after surgery, he gathered podiatrists, mechanical engineers, industrial designers and materials scientists to form the Impact Research Technology Group. Their collaboration produced the patented VersoShock sole — a durable, high-performance shock-absorbing system designed to reduce impact on joints and soft tissue.

Proven design with ongoing research

The first Gravity Defyer shoe launched in 2004, and the company began manufacturing in 2008. More than a decade of refinement has expanded our sole types and styles so people can find comfort for walking, standing, travel and athletic activity.
